Consider this as a brain teaser !!!!
You have your new Austral and your old Fiesta side by side.
You view your MPG'S and wonder with all the mathematics taking place in the Austral cars processors can you trust what the car tells you.
What is the most economical way ?
Example, you freewheel coast your fiesta , the last 200 Metres towards a roundabout and just tap the brakes to stop at the junction,
or,
In the Austral You hit the re-gen button which sticks a little charge into the battery as it slows car down but brings the car to a quicker stop a 100 Meters before the roundabout and you have to use gas to get to the roundabout.
Does the re-gen out perform the efficiency of just coasting in a normal car with no throttle use, as you head towards the roundabout.
It's a scenario my mate and I had a discussion with yesterday as we discussed the pros and cons of manufactures real world MPG calculations and whether the dashboard never lies.
What do you reckon my friends ?
No swearing !!!!!!!!
Mr rugby.
Can you believe the figures ?

When you get use to the car inertia you can use the right amount of regen so the car will get to a stop where it is meant to be without having to reapply the gas. This is a good thing about the Austral to be able to control the regen level to save and stop in the right amount. It takes a bit of practice, but I flick the paddles quite a lot to benefit of either coasting or braking. I don't really trust the mpg meter of the car, the real value comes from the amount of gas going in the tank and the amount of miles done, this two data are valid and calibrated.
